Great router for moding with DD-WRT. Flashed with lasted version of the open source firmware and now use it has a repeater bridge to my main wireless router (DIR-655)! The DIR-655 is a very popular router due to the high transfer speeds. I upgraded to the 655 from the WRT54G and the only thing I still miss is the DD-WRT firmware. Someone, please figure this out.

May 11, 2008 · Well, I manage to get rid of one of the DIR 655(seems like its a popular router and easy to sell). So, I can widen my choices for the bridge. If you are willing to help me with the DD-WRT, I will try to convert my existing WBR2-G54 to a client bridge. I manage to flash to the 23sp2 mini (touted as a stable version)firmware. I have been trying to get a DIR-615 E3 to operate in Client Bridge mode connecting to a D-Link DIR-655 router with D-Link firmware (DD-WRT does not work on the 655). I have been unsuccessful thus far using DD-WRT build 17201 on my 615 E3. I know the box worked fine when I got it as I actually tired it out as a regular router. This came up on a google search for dir-655 firmware. The latest on the dlink site is 1.37 (5/2013), I have an A4 running 1.21. I do remember years and years ago I tried to flash up and the new firmware at the time (1.3x something) sucked ass, kept dropping connections like crazy.
