Turn off your wireless router for 5 minutes and turn off your PS3. Turn on your router first and then turn on your PS3 and see if that helps. My PS3 also started This morning however every time I try to log back in to my ps messages app or the psn app I'm met with "The connection to the server timed out" and it won't stop. So far I've tried to close and open the app, clear the data and cache and uninstall and reinstall to no success. If you look it says connection closed by server, so the PS3 has closed the connection, to much data being transferred and the PS3 will terminate the connection, I just do it chunks of a couple of hundred at a time.
The Media Server connection may interfere with the PS3 system’s internet connection. Disable it by accessing the XMB Menu and choosing [ Settings] > [ Network Settings] > [Media Server Connection] > [Disable] before attempting to connect to PSN. Ensure that all network equipment firmware and drivers are functioning and up to date.

Every few minutes it seems like - freeze and then "your connection has timed out waiting for a response" message. Left it an hour or so, still the same problem. No idea whats causing it.
