I am upgrading my router to something that is more powerful, as the one our provider gave us is really shit. Ever since the firmware updates where they blocked non-approved third-party f third-party firmware's from being installed, I've been struggling to keep my 2.4 WLAN network from losing connection. I'd revert back but that gets refused too. The only way to get the network up again is to reboot, power off etc. which only occasionally works. My current settings: I've tried all wireless modes My cable internet got way faster after installing the Asus RT-AC68R. I had to use the customer service to solve a difficulty to connect to the Netgear range extender I already had. The customer service people ere very helpful and the issue I had was quickly solved. Unfortunately, ASUS has removed the present firmware from its servers, thus making the download impossible. However, you can still save a newer version compatible with the same wireless device: download ASUS RT-AC68R Router Firmware 3.0.0.4.376.1663. When I had my ASUS wireless router, I disabled the 5 GHz completely and it solved some of my slowness issues, I don't know why considering the 5 GHz is supposed to be faster but it did, and yes you can stream HD video on the 2.4 GHz channel to your TV, it works just fine in case someone tells you otherwise.
